Day 8

We arrived at Provincetown in the early evening after stopping off at Plymouth where the pilgrims moved on to after around 5 weeks at what became known as Provincetown and saw a replica of The Mayflower and Plymouth Rock where they landed.

We also stopped off at an information centre on the area.

When we arrived at the hotel we dumped our stuff in the room and went out for provisions at the local CVS Pharmacy, which is more like a local shop at home.

Our view was of the Atlantic Ocean, the room was ok, not the best that we have had.  It had a bathroom/shower, a bed-in-the -wall that we had to lower to sleep in it, a comfy sofa bed, table, chairs and kitchenette.  There was a massive balcony with chairs and a sunlounger.

The Atlantic was very choppy as it was damp and windy.

As it was such a miserable day we went to two MASSIVE craft depots, Michaels and Jo-Anns and money was spent!!!!

Day 9

After a VERY wet (5" of rain) and a very windy night we got up to sunshine but, one of the highlights of our trip, the whalewatching cruise, was cancalled with a possibility of it running tomorrow, we have to ring in the morning to check.

After doing some laundry we checked out and spent the morning in Provincetown for a proper look around the town centre.  It was 'interesting' as it is the lesbian, gay, bi and transsexual capital of the area.  Some of the men dressed as women were a little less than convincing but I found it refreshing that they were able to walk around without prejudice.

One man, sitting on a wall having a cigarette, said to us 'Welcome to Provincetown, where y'all from?', we said England to which he replied 'Oh, y'all missing your Queen so you thought you'd come and visit ours, did ya?'!!

The car park!!

High Street

We left for a relatively short trip to our next destination of Chatham!  To be more precise The Chatham Bars Inn, one of the best hotels in the world and a world away from Chatham in Kent.  It is beautiful!

Day 10

We were up relatively early to get ready for whalewatching (possibly) but, by the time we got through on the phone (they seem to be extremely flexible on time here), they were not running the cruise.  We then had a mooching day with nothing special in mind.

Firstly we had a walk along Chatham High Street................

Spot the difference, it is so wealthy that they have marble kerb stones!

The local Chamber of Commerce, closed for the season, open again in Spring!

We then visited a Wendy for a burger, our first this trip, for lunch and decided to take a trip up the coast and visited two locations, a lighthouse and the spot where Marconi sent his first radio signal from.

but it was still very damp and windy!

With threatening skies yet again we decided to go back to our room and enjoy a few hours quiet time before we get ready early tomorrow for the ferry to Nantucket for the day
